What it is

This is a point-of-entry (whole house) filtration system that installs on your main water line — typically where water enters the home — so every tap, shower, washer, and water-using appliance gets filtered water. The Big Blue 10″ × 4.5″ housing holds a high-capacity cartridge and connects to 1″ NPT plumbing — its larger diameter delivers higher flow and longer cartridge life than a slim system, making it well suited to whole-home use on larger households.

As a single-stage sediment filter, it’s the essential first line of defense: it captures the particulate — dirt, sand, silt, rust flakes, and scale — that clogs fixtures, wears out appliances, and makes water look or taste gritty. It’s also the ideal pre-filter ahead of a softener, RO system, or additional filtration stages.

Want chlorine, taste, or odor reduction? Swap in a carbon cartridge, or add a second stage.

Installation notes

• Install on the main cold-water line at the point of entry, after the main shut-off valve. We recommend a bypass loop so you can service the filter without shutting off the whole house.
• Mount the bracket to a wall stud using the included screws — the housing hangs from the bracket for easy access.
• Use PTFE tape on the 1″ NPT threads and confirm flow direction (in → out) marked on the cap.
• Relieve pressure with the button on the cap before opening the housing for a cartridge change.
• Cold water only. Do not install on a hot-water line.
• Professional installation is recommended if you’re not comfortable working on main-line plumbing.
