What it does

A C-clip (also called a locking clip or collet clip) is a small horseshoe-shaped ring that snaps into the groove under the collet of a 1/4″ quick-connect fitting. With the clip in place, the collet can’t be pushed in accidentally — so the tubing stays locked and can’t pop out under pressure or if something bumps the line.

• 1. Fully insert the 1/4″ OD tubing into the quick-connect fitting until it seats.
• 2. Slide the C-clip into the groove under the collet (the ring that sits at the tube entry).
• 3. Make sure the clip is fully seated — it should sit flush and stop the collet from being pushed in.
• To remove the tubing: first pull the C-clip off, then press the collet in and pull the tube straight out.
• The clip is a retention aid, not a seal — it works alongside a properly seated push-fit connection, it doesn’t replace one.
