What it does

Filter housings do get old — UV exposure over the years can cloud the plastic, an O-ring seat can nick from a rough cartridge change, and the sump can crack if it’s been over-tightened or if it ever froze. This is the drop-in replacement for the housing on any slim 3/4″-port whole-house system: pull the old one off, thread the new one on, drop your cartridge in, done.

The clear/translucent sump lets you see the cartridge condition without disassembly — watch it darken as it loads, so you change filters when they’re actually spent instead of guessing by the calendar. Fits standard 10″ × 2.5″ cartridges (also labeled 9 7/8″ × 2.5″ on some brands) and threads onto any system with 3/4″ NPT ports.

Good to know before you buy

• Do NOT install where temperatures can drop below freezing. Water expands as it freezes and will crack the housing — garages and outbuildings in cold climates need heat tape or an indoor location.
• Install the clear housing out of direct sunlight to prevent algae growth in the sump and to slow UV clouding of the plastic.
• Cold water only — maximum working temperature is 100℉. Not for hot-water lines.
• Hand-tighten the sump snugly, then a quarter turn with the housing wrench — over-tightening cracks the plastic and defeats the O-ring seal.
• Lightly lubricate the O-ring with food-grade silicone grease at every filter change — keeps it supple and prevents rolling on reassembly.
• Plan to replace the whole housing every 3–4 years, or sooner if you see cracking, clouding, discoloration, or any weeping around the seal.
