What it does
This pleated polypropylene cartridge is a high-capacity first-stage pre-filter. Its accordion-folded media exposes far more surface area than a standard spun sediment filter, so it captures more dirt before clogging — meaning higher flow, better dirt-holding capacity, and longer intervals between changes.
It removes dirt, silt, sand, rust, scale, and other suspended particles common in municipal and especially well-water supplies. Trapping this grit up front protects your carbon filters, RO membrane, plumbing, and fixtures — and helps hold water pressure steady as the filter loads.
Because the pleated media is multi-use, it can be rinsed and reinstalled a few times before replacement — a practical choice where sediment loads are heavy. Standard 10″ × 2.5″ (9⅞″ × 2.5″) dimensions fit common housings.

Good to know before you buy
Pleated vs. standard sediment. Choose this pleated filter for well water or heavier sediment — more surface area means longer life and steadier flow. For municipal water with light sediment, the spun SED5 is the lower-cost pick.
Multi-use, but not forever. You can rinse and reinstall this cartridge a few times, but effectiveness drops each cycle — replace once flow stays low after cleaning.
Always the first stage. Sediment goes before carbon and RO. Install this ahead of any carbon or membrane filter so grit never reaches the pricier stages.
