What it does
This set is the complete refill for a dual-stage Big Blue whole-house system — the classic sediment + carbon configuration that covers most municipal water needs. Stage 1 (sediment) captures the grit; Stage 2 (carbon block) takes out chlorine, taste, and odor. Changing both together restores the system to day-one performance in one job.
The stages are matched by design: the 5-micron sediment cartridge protects the carbon block from particulate, so the carbon spends its whole life on chlorine and taste instead of clogging with dirt. That’s why replacing them as a pair beats stretching one while the other degrades.
Both cartridges fit any standard 10″ × 4.5″ Big Blue housing. Install the sediment cartridge in the first housing (water inlet side), the CTO in the second, and you’re done.

Good to know before you buy
Order matters at install. Sediment goes in the FIRST housing (water inlet side), carbon block in the second. Reversed, the carbon clogs with grit and dies early.
The sediment stage may need changing more often. On dirtier water the sediment cartridge (3–6 months) can wear out before the carbon (3–12 months). If that’s your pattern, add a couple of single SED5-10BB cartridges to your order — the quantity pricing on singles covers that.
Flush on install. Run water to drain for a few minutes after a change — new carbon releases harmless fines at first.
