Description
Our premium Big Blue carbon stage: an extruded coconut-shell carbon block that delivers superior chlorine, taste, and odor reduction at whole-house flow — with a long 6–12 month service life.
What it does
The CACB-10BB is our premium carbon polishing stage for whole-house systems. It’s built from extruded coconut-shell carbon — a denser, higher-purity carbon with a finer pore structure than standard carbon block. That microporosity is what coconut carbon is prized for: strong adsorption of chlorine and the small organic compounds behind off-tastes and odors.
Because the block is extruded as one solid piece, water can’t channel around the media — every gallon gets full carbon contact. The 10-micron nominal rating also captures fine sediment that passes a coarser pre-filter, so it polishes clarity along with taste.
The 10″ × 4.5″ Big Blue format carries enough carbon mass to treat whole-house flow with low pressure drop and a long 6–12 month service life — fewer changes than a standard CTO on the same water. Choose this cartridge when the goal is the best-tasting water at every tap, not just the kitchen.

Good to know before you buy
Coconut vs. standard CTO. Both reduce chlorine, taste, and odor. Coconut carbon’s finer micropore structure gives it an edge on taste polishing and small organic compounds, and this cartridge is rated for a longer service life. If you just want dependable chlorine reduction at the lowest cost, the standard CTO-10BB does the job; if taste is the priority, this is the upgrade.
Always run sediment first. Put a sediment cartridge (SED5-10BB) ahead of this one so the carbon spends its life on chlorine and taste, not on dirt.
Chlorine, not chloramine. Coconut carbon block handles chlorine well; chloramine-treated water needs catalytic carbon for effective reduction. Check your utility’s water report if you’re not sure which your city uses.
